After connecting with Keenan in Toronto and then picking up Cayly in Ottawa, the days have been more full and the internet opportunities have been fewer. Actually, there has been internet but not the bandwidth to handle all the people using it when I wanted to.
I've learned to download big files late at night to get the kind of speed I need.
It was lovely to meet Keenan's boyfriend Cole in Mississauga. I spent the night of the 7th on Cole's driveway - and a beautiful driveway it is. Keenan and Cole prepared a wonderful pasta dinner for me and we had a nice visit.
On the 8th, Keenan and I headed for Ottawa. We had a little excitement in the campground that night when we were getting set up. Keenan felt something on her foot and looked down to see a little snake.
In Ottawa we toured Parliament Hill and the Byword Market. It was interesting to see the parliament buildings and see the portraits of all the people who have been keeping the charade of government going. I know that a few years ago I would have felt a lot of the same reverence and curiosity that Keenan has. That was before I was aware of the government corruption. The tour guide told us all about the pageantry and rituals related to the House of Commons and the Senate. What struck me was how rituals are used to cover what is really going on in the back rooms.
It was interesting to see some yachts going through the locks in Ottawa. The water is controlled by manually opening and closing each section to allow the water to empty or fill as needed.

The Byword Market was lovely. Lots to see and we bought a bunch of produce there. I paid $50 for 3 chicken breasts, 1 pork tenderloin, and 1 rib steak in a butcher shop. The meat was really really good but I can't afford to eat like that everyday. OUCH!!
On the 9th we headed for Ottawa where we camped overnight and picked up Cayly at the airport at 6 am. Then we drove to Quebec City where we planned to spend a couple of nights.
