I view the September 2 as the day I started home.
I was exhausted after my whirlwind tours of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. While these places look small on the map (relative to Alberta) it takes much longer to get around than I thought and I vastly underestimated the time I needed to see them. As a result, I drove myself too hard and drove the motorhome too far and I didn't get to see all the things I wanted to see. I knew I would not be able to see everything but I have some regrets about not setting out earlier on this whole trip.
Adding to this stress is the turn in the weather. It has been grey, raining and windy almost every day since I got to Newfoundland on Aug 27. After Louisbourg I just wanted to get out of Nova Scotia weather. I really started to get homesick for Alberta fall with its blue skies and dry air.
I drove along the Northumberland shore of Nova Scotia but I can't say I enjoyed it much in my frame of mind and in that weather.
On Sept 3, I arrived back in Dieppe, NB at my new friends Romy & Roger's house. They are so warm and welcoming and I looked forward to a few days of rest and relaxation there. I also wanted to get the brakes on the truck looked at as I was hearing a new noise that worried me. The mechanic couldn't find anything so I guess I'll put that worry aside.
On Sept 6, I left Dieppe feeling rested and still feeling the pull back home.
There is still a long drive ahead of me and I aim to drive new routes as much as possible.
