Farewell to Nova Scotia - for a little while

I left Lantz about 6:30 pm and drove to Antigonish, NS.  This was the first night driving I did on my trip.  That was okay except for trying to find the campground in Antigonish.  The directions written in the guidebook seemed straight forward but I spent at least 1/2 an hour driving around under the guidance of my cell phone GPS before I asked directions and finally found it.

It was the most expensive campground so far at $46/night for water & electricity only. OUCH

It seemed strange when I drove into the camping area.  People were gathered around firepits which were right at the edge of the road.

The next day I drove the short distance to New Harris KOA which is only 15 minutes from North Sydney ferry terminal.  I stayed there to be in line by 9:45am for the 11:45am ferry to Newfoundland.  I noticed the same thing about the firepits in this campground so I asked about it.

More weird government regulations.  During a fire ban, you can have a firepit if its at the side of the road.  Presumably there is little or no combustable material at the side of the road.  Thing is, the road is at the edge of the grass and trees.  Perspective?!!

I got some laundry done and took care of a few other details while I enjoyed the views from the campground.

Wild and wispy clouds

The campground is at the base of this red cliff
